It turns out most of them are but I am amazed by the number of people who don’t have a link to their twitter profile on their blog. Some people have been quite tricky to find!
It’s by no means perfect since it only features blogs on AdAge with PR, Public Relations, Publicity or Flack in the title, and a few that were suggested to me in October. Unfortunately I didn’t have time in November to update the list. It’s just a bit of fun but I think it’s a decent indicator of the top PR blogs nonetheless.

If your PR blog is missing please comment and let me know. If you haven’t added your blog to the AdAge Power 150 yet you can do so by clicking here.

It’s by no means perfect since it only features blogs on AdAge with PR, Public Relations or Publicity in the title, and a few that were suggested to me last month. It’s just a bit of fun but I think it’s a decent indicator of the top PR blogs nonetheless.

I’ve produced a list of the world’s top PR blogs according to the AdAge Power 150. It’s by no means perfect since it only features blogs on AdAge with PR, Public Relations or Publicity in the title, and a few that were suggested to me last month. It’s just a bit of fun but I think it’s a decent indicator of the top PR blogs nonetheless.

If your PR blog is missing please comment and let me know. If you haven’t added your blog to the AdAge Power 150 yet you can do so by clicking here.

This weekend I attended the closing down party at the Underground night club in Southport, which is one of my all-time favourite haunts. Like many closing down sales and farewell tours it was very busy. It showed what potential the club had, and how popular the place is with its customers.

If every night was like Saturday night I very much doubt the club would be shutting down. So why is it shutting down? I put that down to mediocre marketing. Although the club has built up an impressive level of brand loyalty with its customers, by providing a good quality service, it hasn’t taken advantage of this. The club could have easily and cheaply used social media to interact with its customer base.

Here are a few ways that the club owners could have engaged more with their customers.

• Invite clubbers to get involved by voting for what music should be played or what drinks should be sold
• Provide an online space for customers to share their photographs and videos
• Issue a regular newsletter informing customers about changes to the night club
• Write a blog to provide information about bands that will soon be performing, recommend new artists to listen to and songs to download, and talk about changes being made to the club
• Invite the public to review music

The Underground did run a Facebook group that regularly issued messages about what bands were playing each week. But this can quickly be seen as spam and the message is lost. Nobody wants to be told the same thing each week. It’s boring and it could actually harm your brand.

The list had been produced by Spinning Around using data from the AdAge Power 150. Yesterday Nick Burcher produced a list of the top European blogs according to the AdAge Power 150.

This got me thinking. What are the world’s top PR blogs? So jumping on the band wagon slightly I’ve produced a list of the top PR blogs according to the AdAge Power 150. It’s by no means perfect since it only features blogs on AdAge with PR, Public Relations or Relations in the title, but I think it’s a decent indicator nonetheless.

If your PR blog is missing please comment and let me know. If you haven’t added your blog to the AdAge Power 150 yet you can do so by clicking here.

Added some much needed colour and implemented some exciting new features.

Firstly, I have started using Twitter. I think it’s ace. It’s perfect for all those little updates and questions that are too big to be my status on facebook and too small to be blog posts. Plus further networking opportunities to boot.

Secondly, I’ve used Blogger to modify the rest of my website. The pages are all now in blog format so I can update them anywhere and people can comment and subscribe to individual pages. Plus I have a feeling that it might boost my ranking on Google. Search engines love pages like that.

Check out my site and let me know what you think of the new design, and if you get the chance check out Tom Harle’s superb marketing and graphic design blog, Aspire To Enquire. It’s a really good read!

A couple weeks ago I blogged to say that I had applied for a place on Seth Godin’s summer internship in New York. I didn’t get it. I did however get invited to join his online internship during the summer months. A group of almost 100 top marketing students from around the world will be working together, sharing knowledge and learning from each other as well as from one of the greatest marketeers of all time and perhaps the world’s most influential marketing blogger. Exciting, eh?

We’ll be collaborating on marketing projects for Seth’s website Squidoo.com as well as completing a number of other tasks. At the end of the summer, Seth has stated his intention to showcase the CV’s of all the active interns on his phenomenally popular blog. Money can’t buy that kind of reccomendation.

For my first task I’m hoping to team up with Richard Millington who writes a very inciteful marketing blog at FeverBee.com. We have been asked to create lenses (web pages) on Squidoo about topics which interest us. We haven’t decided what our lenses will be about yet but I’m hoping we can write about the microblogging service Twitter. I shall keep you informed.

Google has turned the lights off and made their homepage black to promote Earth Hour, which is a global environment initative. I’m impressed by how much difference changing a single colour makes. Perhaps other company’s with well known colour schemes could try this.

I’d like to see Coca-Cola turn their cans and bottles green for a few weeks to celebrate their environmental efforts. But then again I’d like to see Coke become more environmentally friendly anyway.
