Top 100 PR Blogs: July 2008
Earlier this month my boss, Stephen Waddington, blogged to say that ‘From PR To Eternity’ had made it into a list of the UK’s top marketing blogs. The list had been produced by Spinning Around using data from the AdAge Power 150. Yesterday Nick Burcher produced a list of the top European blogs according to the AdAge Power 150.
This got me thinking. What are the world’s top PR blogs? So jumping on the band wagon slightly I’ve produced a list of the top PR blogs according to the AdAge Power 150. It’s by no means perfect since it only features blogs on AdAge with PR, Public Relations or Relations in the title, but I think it’s a decent indicator nonetheless.
If your PR blog is missing please comment and let me know. If you haven’t added your blog to the AdAge Power 150 yet you can do so by clicking here.

I’m usually in the top 50 or 60 on Power150, and my blog is definitely about PR although PR isn’t in the title:
“a shel of my former self”

Hi Shel,
Thanks for letting me know, your blog has now been added at number 3. It’s unfortunate that you can’t search by blog description at AdAge as it would make compiling a list like this a lot less complicated.
Sorry for missing your blog off,
Matt
Hi Matthew
Ta for the mention; again throws up some ratings conflict; for eg – can Paull ‘Youngie’ Young be a top Aussie blogger when he’s based in the US and most of his material emanates therefrom?
Hi Gerry,
Interesting point, I’m not sure. On AdAge he’s classed as an Australian blogger so that’s what I have gone with, whether right or wrong. Perhaps the top Australian American PR blogger would be a better description.
Thanks for stopping by!
Matt
Hi Matthew,
Interesting post, and that’s a great list you have come up with. With Katie Paine’s exception, the list appears to be light on PR measurement and planning resources. In the PR world, it’s never been more true to say that proper planning and measurement really do matter. And that’s why I’m writing to bring to your attention Metrica’s blog on media evaluation, social media measurement and PR planning ‘Measurement Matters’. It can be found at http://www.metrica.net/measurementmatters
Keep up the great work.
Cheers
Richard
Matthew:
Thanks for the mention! How cool to find your list on the day after I got home from BlogHer08. Good to know about you and your blog – as well as all the PR blogs you mention.

Wow, thanks for the inclusion on the list!

Hi Matthew,
I know we’re not on the AdAge Power150, but this is our blog: http://www.piercemattiepublicrelations.com
Cool list. Maybe I’ll make it next year. Mine’s marketing and PR:

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for mentioning my blog. Frankly, I didn’t realize I will still on the AdAge list =)
It’s always interesting hearing about how PR differs in the UK than US.

PR Meets Marketing
Much happier with my ranking here which befits my status as a modern PR luminary. Keep up the good work!
Bless! PRwordSmith at number 56 in the world and 11 in the UK?
As much as I love Stu Smith, given his last post was in March 2007 while he was still in his old job, and he only ever actually posted eight times, this might point to a slight flaw in the ranking, no?
And what about Trevor Cook’s corp engagement PR/political blog outta Sydney, Matthew?
Gerry
Wow, how nice to be ranked so well, and in such esteemed company. Thanks!
Hi Gerry,
I have now added Corporate Engagement to the list. Thanks for stopping by.
Hi Mark,
Not sure why PRwordSmith is still ranking so high. Perhaps people are still linking to his site and therefore affecting the AdAge ranking.
Matt
Hi Matthew – Great list, thanks for compiling. We're on the AA rankings as well, coming in at roughly 38 on your list with an AA score of 34

Matthew, just a note that the Adage has us down as a US blog, but we are actually UK-based. I don’t know if that helps our standings or not. Just FYI…www.strivepr.com/notes
I am disappointed that my blog didn’t make the top 50, but not surprised since my blog is more provincial than most PR blogs.
However, MNPR Blog was among the first 10 PR blogs in existence.
Cheers Matt!
It’s always good to be in the top 10 of something (even if it is a niche blog in a niche in another niche…)
Perhaps you could update this table once a month or something and keep people coming back to you for more?
You’ll soon shoot up the rankings that way!
Cheers,
Ben
Matt -
Enjoyed your list. BTW, although my blog doesn’t contain PR in the title, and yes I bring best practices from other industries, it’s squarely about PR. The address is http://clientserviceinsights.blogspot.com It’s sitting at 499 on the Ad Age list at the moment. I invite you to visit. Thanks, Leo
Hi Mathew
Cool list. As someone who has just recently launched my own PR blog (http://paulstallard.wordpress.com/) I found it interesting to see which ones are at the top of their game in our industry. Also enjoyed some of your other posts – keep up the good work mate.
I’m only 25 days old but consider this the start of my campaign to get listed in your top UK PR blogs v2.0
Great list BTW – just updated my RSS feeds!
http://www.danleach.co.uk
Some good links in there (and some I hadn’t spotted) and it makes me think if I should go back and redo my site to be more PR-focused (and have that in the heading) or stick to it being a bit more jack of all trade (PR, newspapers, media, tech and bits and bobs of other things)
Hi Matthew,
Great initiative and effort here. I was just going through the AdAge Power 150 the other day and noticed something like 55 blogs had PR or public relations in there name. I’m a PR professional at Taylor, which was named PR agency of the Year by the Holmes Report in 2008 and blog under the title, Eyecube (#569 today). Is it a pure PR blog? Probably not by traditional standards, but the notion of ‘traditional PR’ has pretty much been blown up. Love to be included in your list. I’ll keep an eye on this and be sure to link to it soon.
Cheers,
Thanks, and it made me smile. Heck, I write for three people most of the time. :)
We should probably be in there somewhere too…www.thisisherd.com (Cow’s blog)
I’d like to say something like
“yes, yes I knew all along we’d be in amongst it, jolly good etc etc”
but instead I’ll just say that’s totally flipping awesome!
Now off to celebrate our new found fame…
Hey Matthew. Guess that Spinning Around ought to be added to the list, in that case – if only because it’s written by the folks at Seventy Seven PR! Good list, BTW.
Cheers,
James
